    Let your light shine - imagine, believe, achieve, thrive

    Chadlington CE Primary School Mission Statement

    We aim to:

    • Provide every child with the opportunity to explore and celebrate their unique potential and to develop their imagination, creativity and self-belief;
    • Enable pupils to thrive as life-long learners; developing the confidence, resilience and drive that they need to reach their goals;
    • Encourage pupils to embrace opportunities so that they will go on to lead a fulfilling and rewarding life, guided by Christian values;
    • encourage children to develop a sense of responsibility as active global citizens; caring for others, valuing unity and respecting different attitudes and beliefs.
    • Teach children to make connections with other people so that they can form warm, empathetic friendships.

    Inspiration

    “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

    Albert Einstein

    “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”

    Mahatma Gandhi

    "I am always doing things I can't do, that's how I get to do them.”

    Pablo Picasso

    Winter 2024 Chadlington school was inspected by a SIAMS team, a Church of England body that supervises the spiritual health and education of Diocesan schools. The children and staff responded with characteristic enthusiasm and strength and these are a few of the headline quotations from the Report.

    “Chadlington Church of England Primary School has a deeply embedded and treasured Christian vision. “

    “A set of recently refreshed supporting values are carefully chosen to serve the needs of this small, rural community. The values of ‘thrive, imagine, believe and achieve’ are a driving force through which dedicated leaders and staff live out their vision.”

    “Inspired by the vision to ‘let your light shine’, leaders have developed a carefully considered curriculum tailored to the needs of the pupils. It offers rich, enquiry-led experiences that foster pupils’ curiosity and engagement.”

    “The school’s vision of enabling everyone to thrive underpins a school culture that actively fosters self-belief. The wellbeing of all is prioritised.”

    “Pupils take responsibility for each other. Actively supported by adults, pupils are motivated to act positively within their community. They lovingly take care of the environment and demonstrate a willingness to serve others.”

    “Inspired by the school's values, to imagine and believe, leaders are determined to widen pupils’ horizons. Whole-school curriculum projects give opportunities for pupils’ individual talents to be nurtured and celebrated.”

    “Driven by the aspirational vision for every pupil to thrive, there is a powerful culture of care and inclusion. Adults take every opportunity to tailor support so that pupils are happy, engaged and embrace the life of the school.”

    As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled School, we have strong links with St. Nicholas's Church in Chadlington. We are committed to the development of the whole child, and teach values based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We aim to provide pupils with insight into the nature of different religious ideas and beliefs and a knowledge of the Christian faith, so that they will be able to make their own choices in life.

    In order to achieve this we aim to:

    • create a strong Christian ethos that promotes love, care, tolerance, forgiveness and understanding;
    • help pupils to develop a sympathetic understanding of the Christian faith, without exerting pressure to believe;
    • encourage pupils' tolerance towards the beliefs of others and develop their understanding of, and respect for other major world faiths and cultures.

    Let your light shine

    'Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

    Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

    Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.'

    Matthew 5, King James Version

    'We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.'

    Marianne Williamson

    Living Values

    Our curriculum is values-based, with each value linked to a separate topic in order to make learning meaningful. 'We are inventors', for example, encourages children to develop self-belief, whilst 'We are travel writers' teaches children to explore tolerance.
