  • Joyful & Productive

This week has been a busy one before the half term holiday.

    The Wizards class

In the kitchen, the year 6s have all made savoury muffins this week, which were enjoyed by both the children and staff in the Wizards. During the term, the children have been critiquing the different foods they have made: one child said the sweet scones were better than Gordon Ramsay's!

A group of children from years 4. 5 and 6 attended the athletics meet at Chipping Norton School on Wednesday where they took part in a variety of events including a sprint, howler throw, long jump and a relay. Well done to all the children who represented Chadlington School.

Our Bristol display is finally finished with the addition of some amazing hot air balloons including one in the shape of a Smurf.

Another incredibly busy term completed for the Wizards!

    The Dragons class

On Monday, the children enjoyed practising their athletics skills in preparation for Sports Day next term. Four of our Year 4 children were part of the team chosen to represent the school at the event. They had a very enjoyable afternoon and were a credit to the school.

In English, the children wrote biographies about important people of interest to them. The range of subject matter was impressive and included Sporting heroes Ben Stokes and William Webb Ellis and important activists such as David Attenborough and Rosa Parks.

A group of Year four children enjoyed making a pasta sauce in cookery this week, using some of the delicious leeks harvested from school garden.

It was Bee Awareness Day on Tuesday. The children carried out surveys around the school to monitor how many bees visited our school. They were pleased to note that a wide range of insects were attracted to our site and that some of the flowering plants are particularly bee-friendly!

Well done to the Dragons for all their hard work this term!

    The Shire

As Summer Term 1 comes to a close in the Shire, it's been wonderful to see how much the children have grown in confidence and independence. We've explored our exciting topic of ‘We are Engineers’ by looking at minibeasts and birds to see how the idea of flight came to be in Pixies. Elves and Griffins have been looking at how man has been inspired to invent ways to fly. We have continued to enjoy our outdoor adventures filming and building strong foundations in early literacy, phonics and numeracy. The children have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm every day, and it's been a joyful and productive half-term.
