It has been a busy week in school with PE, cooking, different science experiments and learning across all the subjects going on.
The Shire made a wonderful collaborative flower display this week. We're sure that you agree with Mrs Harris that it looks like a bunch of flowers from above.
Also, in the Shire class this week, the pupils have all been working on some pop art posters for unacceptable and acceptable behaviour.
This term the Dragons class are learning about Hinduism and have made some hindu patterns for the display board in the classroom. They are also starting to add coloured coded biome maps to the world map display and have been finding out about different biomes, where the equator is and the rainforest biomes that are near the equator.
The year threes have settled in well to their new class and thank you to the parents who are helping the children learn their spellings, which will be tested in class on a Monday not Friday as previously reported.
The Dragons class have been learning about the life cycle of sunflowers and how water travels through plants. They are experimenting with cut celery in coloured water and are watching for the leaves to turn red.
In cookery, they have made apple chutney this week, and they are enjoying hockey and football lessons in PE.
This week in the Wizards class the pupils have been learning about the explorers; Lewis and Clark who discovered the route to the West Coast of America travelling through Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
"We discovered Lewis and Clark were helped by Sacagawea a young Shoshane Native American Woman. We've been thinking about how exploration can change how we act today. We realised that Lewis and Clark opened the way to the American West."
The Wizards have been using educational minecraft to build treehouses. They have also enjoyed listening to 'The Explorer' by Katharine Rundell and imagining what it would be like to survive by ourselves.
In maths, we are learning multiplication strategies and investigating factors. Sophie loved making Damson Jam, Chloe enjoyed finding out about the different parts of flowers. Parker and Maisie are enjoying the football season at playtimes and lunchtimes. Bea enjoyed pond dipping and finding baby newts.
