The School Day

Please allow pupils to enter school on their own in the morning. See below for arrival times and appropriate entrances.

This encourages independence in your child and helps maintain a peaceful start to the school morning. In the afternoon you will need to go to the outside door of your child's classroom (Pixies, Elves and Dragons). To collect children from the Wizards, please collect your child from the main school door.

If you have more than one child to collect, we suggest that you collect the younger ones first. We will not let brothers and sisters go until you come for them. If your child is going home with somebody else or unexpected circumstances arise, please send a note or ring the office to keep us informed.

For safeguarding purposes, we will not allow any children to go home with neighbours, friends etc. unless you have authorised it with us.

When collecting children by car, please do not park on the zigzag lines outside school — they are there to protect your child.

Attendance and Absence Procedure

Attendance is compulsory and any child with attendance below 90% is considered a persistent absentee. Our target is 97% attendance.

Our attendance policy has been updated and can be found here: Attendance

Holidays taken during term time are unlikely to be authorised. In line with government guidelines, unauthorised absences may lead to a penalty notice.

Contact us on 01608 676366 as soon as possible on the first day of absence, send a note on the first day they return with an explanation of the absence, if a Persistent Absentee Action Plan is in place (this must be done even if parents or guardians have already telephoned us);

Or, parents and guardians can call in to school and report to reception.

If a child is absent the school will:

  • Telephone or text parents or guardians on the first day of absence if the school has not heard from them;
  • Invite parents/guardians in to discuss the situation with the Class Teacher.
  • Refer the matter to the County Attendance Team if attendance moves below 90% and is not improving.
