Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep!

Something very exciting happened in this week: eggs were delivered to the Shire! The Pixies (reception), Elves (year 1) and Griffins (year 2) have written about it in their own words. Enjoy their shared writing!

On Monday afternoon, eleven white eggs arrived at The Shire. We were very happy and excited to see them hatch in their incubator. Nothing happened on Tuesday during the day, but when we arrived at school on Wednesday morning, two chicks had hatched!

They were big (compared to the shells), fluffy, yellow and they were cheeping very loudly. Some eggs started to wobble and the chicks inside started to tap the shell. Then cracks appeared and finally a chick’s head and a foot popped out. After a few minutes the chick was fully hatched!

It was wet and very tired, and it needed to rest. We have eleven chicks now and they will move to the Brooder Box. We are looking forward to watching them eat and drink, play together, and most of all, to hold them. All our chicks are just so curious (about us), cute, adorable and funny.

Our chicks are named after Fairy Tales and we have, Jack, Red, Aurora, Pinocchio, Tom Thumb, Rapunzel, Gretel, Snow, Goldilocks, Hansel and Cinderella. Do you know which Fairy Tales our chicks represent?
